Current and future effects of climate change on the epidemiology of diabetes
One of the main tasks of the Junior Research Group is to investigate the influence of climate change on the current and future epidemic dynamics of diabetes. One focus are the long-term effects of climate-related environmental factors on the risk of diabetes and its complications.
In addition, the short-term effects of extreme weather events such as heat on people with diabetes will be investigated. Methods of descriptive epidemiology, causal inference, time series analysis, case-crossover and case-only designs will be used. The results will be linked to projection models to analyze the influence of future climate change on the epidemiology of diabetes.
