The focus will be on current, clinically relevant issues in modern diabetology \u2013 from cardio-diabetes and precision diabetology to the prevention and treatment of diabetes and its complications. New formats such as a joint symposium with the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and two sessions for young scientists will expand the program and strengthen scientific exchange. Registration and abstract submission are now open on the congress website <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ceda2026.com\/\"><strong>ceda2026.com.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the CEDA Congress will take place in D\u00fcsseldorf at the end of June 2026, the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia will become the meeting place for the Central, Eastern and Southeastern European diabetes community for three days. The congress is being organized by the German Diabetes Center (DDZ) at Heinrich Heine University D\u00fcsseldorf (HHU) \u2013 an institution where translational research and clinical application have always been closely intertwined \u2013 and will be held at the lecture halls of the Medical Faculty at University Hospital D\u00fcsseldorf and Heinrich Heine Universit\u00e4t D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scientific program focuses on topics of high clinical significance. These include, among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Diabetes and cardiovascular disease (cardio-diabetes)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Precision diabetology and the heterogeneity of diabetes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diabetes and comorbidities, especially liver disease, kidney disease and neuropathy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prevention through diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, new therapeutic approaches, innovations in diabetes technology and current developments in obesity will be comprehensively examined \u2014 topics that are of interest to both researchers and practicing physicians. The program will be supplemented by selected satellite symposia from renowned pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Over time, the CEDA congresses have developed into an ideal venue for intensive exchange between diabetes experts and the next-generation of researchers and physicians. This year\u00b4s high-level program will allow us to discuss novel therapeutic approaches and to reflect on state-of-the art care for people with diabetes&#8221;, explains Professor Michael Roden, Congress President of CEDA 2026, Scientific Director and Spokesperson of the Board of the DDZ as well as Director of the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetology at University Hospital D\u00fcsseldorf. With its central location, lively cultural and fashion scene, and excellent gastronomy, the state capital of D\u00fcsseldorf offers the ideal setting for sightseeing and networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New formats strengthen networking and promote young talents<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A special highlight of the congress is a joint symposium with the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), which is also based in D\u00fcsseldorf. The aim of the symposium is to strengthen the CEDA&#8217;s links with European diabetes research and to further expand scientific exchange at an international level. At the joint symposium of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) and the DDZ, leading experts from the DZD partner institutes will give presentations on the latest innovations in diabetology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With two Young Investigator Sessions, the congress is specifically aimed at young scientists: researchers of the next generation will have the opportunity to present their work to a large specialist audience and exchange ideas with experienced experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Call for Abstracts and Poster<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating scientists are cordially invited to submit abstracts presenting new research findings. Submissions can be made until March 31, 2026, via the website <a href=\"https:\/\/ceda2026.com\/\">ceda2026.com<\/a>. All accepted contributions will be presented as posters; the abstracts will be published in the journal \u201cDiabetes, Stoffwechsel und Herz\u201d (Diabetes, Metabolism, and Heart), the official organ of CEDA. To specifically promote young scientists, CEDA will award ten travel grants of \u20ac500 each to young scientists under the age of 40 (proof of age required) who do not receive any other funding.
