The research group \u201cInflammation\u201d investigates the role of inflammation-related processes  in type 2 diabetes. The group characterizes the mechanistic impact of  specific biomarkers of subclinical inflammation on the cellular level as  and their predictive value for the incidence of type 2 diabetes and its complications in clinical and epidemiological studies (selected recent  publications: Diabetes Care 2017;40:569-576; Arterioscler Thromb Vasc  Biol 2017;37:1222-1227; Nat Rev Endocrinol 2018;14:567-568; Diabetes  2018;67:2434-2442; Diabetes Metab Res Rev 2019;35:e3074).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A successful applicant will be responsible for and contribute to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Molecular and cellular studies on the interaction between \ninflammation and mechanisms related to the development of type 2 \ndiabetes and its complications (e.g. insulin resistance, endothelial \ndysfunction\u2026).<\/li><li>Analyses of transcriptomics and proteomics profiles.<\/li><li>Statistical analyses of data (including pathway analysis).<\/li><li>Presentation of research results in national\/international conferences.<\/li><li>Writing publications and grant applications.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We expect:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>PhD degree\/proof of finalized PhD thesis in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.<\/li><li>Excellent expertise in cell culture (e.g. adipocytes, endothelial cells, hepatocytes) and molecular biology techniques.<\/li><li>Expertise and interest in biostatistics.<\/li><li>Excellent scientific writing and communication skills in English.<\/li><li>Track record of working in an interactive\/interdisciplinary team.<\/li><li>High affinity for biomedical and translational research.<\/li><li>Good organization and decision-making skills.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We offer:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The position is to be awarded starting <strong>from January 1st, 2020<\/strong>.<\/li><li>The initial contract runs <strong>for 2 years<\/strong> with an option of prolongation.<\/li><li>The salary is based on qualification and experience according to TV-L in its current version for North Rhine-Westphalia.<\/li><li>The DDZ is committed to family-friendly working conditions and equal\n gender policy.
