The goal is to describe the prevalence and incidence of diabetes, gain a deeper understanding of its development and progression, and contribute to improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. This is achieved through the analysis of data from population-based studies, registries, and health insurance records, as well as through systematic reviews and meta-analyses.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Aims<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Surveillance and population-based estimation of type 1 and type 2 diabetes<\/strong>: Assessment and analysis of the prevalence and incidence rates of type 1 and type 2 diabetes, particularly among young individuals, in North Rhine-Westphalia and Germany<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lifestyle and cardiometabolic health:<\/strong> Investigation of the role of diet, physical activity, and other lifestyle factors in preventing diabetes and its complications or comorbidities, with a focus on subgroups with different risk profiles<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pharmacological treatments for diabetes:<\/strong> Evaluation of the benefits, effectiveness, and safety of both conventional and innovative pharmacological therapies<\/li>\n<li><strong>Evidence-based medicine in diabetology:<\/strong> Conducting umbrella reviews, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses to generate evidence in diabetes research and contributing to the development of guidelines<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ongoing project: The role of nutrition for the management of cardiovascular risk in type 1 diabetes, BMBF-funded project (2024.2026, funding code: 01KG2312)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Objective: To summarize and evaluate the evidence on the impact of dietary factors in the management of cardiovascular risk in people with type 1 diabetes, using systematic reviews and meta-analyses of clinical trials.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ongoing project: Evidence of dietary factors for the prevention of diabetes-related complications in individuals with type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis, DFG-funded project (2024\u20132026, project number: 543196256)<br \/>\n<\/strong>Objective: To summarize and evaluate the evidence on the role of nutritional factors in the risk of diabetes-related complications in people with type 2 diabetes, using systematic reviews and meta-analyses of prospective observational studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row el_class=\"distance-top-small\"][vc_column][vc_tta_tour tab_position=\"right\" active_section=\"1\"][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=\"fa fa-users\" add_icon=\"true\" title=\"Team\" tab_id=\"1557219375391-43fad21d-8602\"][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Team<\/h2>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<div class=\" pure-data shortcodes color-links\"><div class=\"visitenkarten-container\"><div class=\"visitenkarte\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"inner\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"portrait\" style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/api.ddz.de\/file\/get\/c197ae6a50896c2623b2bb78c2412c3cc8a2abec3511ed17eb3b307e5337376c.jpg)\" title=\"Portrait image of PD Dr. oec. troph.
